12th Annual ZGI Shorts Film Festival May 25027, 2012. Over 30 short films and two features will be screened. Filmmakers will be on-hand for Q&A, following screenings.

The Zaki Gordon Institute for Independent Filmmaking (ZGI) is proud to announce the 12th annual ZGI Shorts Film Festival, May 25th to May 27th 2012. Over 30 films will be screened!  Saturday and Sunday will be filled with screenings of student shorts, High School Film Competition winners, Alumni films and ZGI Award winners from the Class of 2011.

Dan Gordon’s Screenwriting Awards will be presented Saturday evening, followed by a special feature film presentation. Cinephile’s will be treated to a Q&A with the filmmaker, after the movie.

Memorial Day weekend marks the 9th annual ZGI Shorts Film Festival!
The Zaki Gordon Institute is proud to present short films from the Class of 2009 and more. The complete film festival experience is an exciting time with the premiere of over 20 short films, new projects from ZGI alumni and winners of the Arizona High School Media Competition all screening at the film festival.
Presenting a first look at films directed by this year’s graduates, the shorts program will also highlight, Student Films by Famous Directors. George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg all launched their film careers as students. Today their work inspires new filmmakers with films like Star Wars, Back to the Future and Close Encounters.

Documentaries Nurture Nature shorts film block gives a close up look at the powerful relationship between humanity and nature. Subjects include the Sea of Cortez, Lake Powell and Cornville, Ariz.
Film synopsis and schedule details will be posted one week prior to the film festival. Please note all films screen at least one time on Saturday and one time on Sunday.

Premiere Pass: Only $35
Don’t miss the opening celebration! Clearly the best value of the weekend, the Premiere Pass includes the biggest party of the weekend.
This year the celebration of filmmaking will take place on campus Friday evening. Casino games will provide the entertainment at this “filmanthropic” event. A great excuse to dress to the nines, the school will be transformed, taking guests back in time to a magical era of the classic casino lounges and the Rat Pack.
The evening will start at 6:30 and the winners will be announced at 9:30pm. A wine tasting demonstration will be presented by Oak Creek Vineyards and Winery. Fabulous food provided by Reds, Dahl & DiLuca and the Heartline Cafe and live classic jazz by Eric Williams.
