4 Sessions: Saturdays & Sundays
If you love taking pictures and want to improve your photography this is the class for you. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there are ways to make pictures better, which award-winning fine art and commercial photographer Susie Reed will explore in this 4-part course. She’ll share what can be done at photo shoots and on the computer to enhance images. She’ll explain the best types and sizes of files to create for print, the Internet and projection, demonstrate effective Photoshop tools, discuss composition, criteria to use for editing, give thought provoking assignments and do individual critiques to help students hone their skills, improve their ability to see and present their work well. Reed will also discuss the role inspiration; instincts and intuition play in the creative process and provide tips for entering photo contests, based on her experience judging several.
Susie Reed has over 30 years experience behind the camera. Her critically acclaimed work has been exhibited in the Cooper Hewitt Museum, the De Young Museum, the International Museum of Photography and elsewhere. Her pictures have been reproduced in many publications and on an array of products including photographic calendars, which have sold in many countries. Susie is a popular, generous teacher who offers clear guidance about many aspects of photography, which can seem complex and overwhelming, especially at the start. She’s helped many beginning and experienced photographers improve. Susie previously taught at California College of the Arts and San Francisco Art Institute. She’s judged numerous photo contests and is the director of Sedona Photofest’s 2012 Red Rock Open Photo Competition. She shows her critically acclaimed photos at Goldenstein Gallery, voted the best gallery in Sedona the last four years by the readers of Kudos.
